Instructive Mistakes in a Planning Unit of an Autonomous Car

I will talk about a possible design of a motion planning unit in a self-driving car. After a brief introduction to the basic principles I will focus on the possible design of an expert system that determines how an autonomous vehicle interacts with other agents such as snowdrifts, pedestrians and other cars.

I’ll end the talk with a few instructive stories about how seemingly reasonable changes in individual subunits led to unexpected behavior of a self-driving car.
