There is a famous saying of Donald Knuth that premature optimization is the root of all evil. In practice it's not that unambiguous. Based on their own experience of developing a static code analyzer, Andrey and his team came to the conclusion that only premature optimization of everything that is available can save us from continuous declining performance.
